These 6 tips on ISO /Power Run Game scheme are extremely important for Running Backs
) 90-95 % pre- snap read to know where the hole should open up , only thing that changes it slightly is if the Defensive line stunts either way just adjust.
) ISO -Power runs will hit inside the 95% of time , only reason you will bounce outside is if defensive end slants down & your TE /Tackle blocks DE down .
) If Corner - Safety blitz to the play call side on iso or power 9 times out of 10 The A Gap backside next to the center will be wide open ( have to make it a fast jump cut to that gap then press to opposite safety for 1 on 1 situation or it will be a free run with no secondary defenders
) Have a since of urgency , like get where you need to get ASAP . If you need more time , then take a half a step back in your stance but when the play starts you need to be moving fast ( holes don’t stay open long during iso /Power)
) Being effective during running ISO / Power plays will open up play action passes which is points for your team . On Play-action passes make sure your fakes look normal don’t over act it , good safeties will figure it out then bail immediately to cover deep passes
) ISO / Power runs are meant for you to get downhill for tough yards but can turn into long runs , at all cost punish - get physical with linebackers and safeties, it will open up one on one situations in the zone run scheme . Wearing defenses down lead to fatigue and missed tackles ( so set it up )
